Product introduction:
1.Carrageenan is a hydrophilic colloid extracted from some red algae seaweed. Its chemical structure is calcium, potassium, sodium and ammonium salts of polysaccharide sulfates composed of galactose and anhydrogalactose.
2.Carrageenan has the characteristics of forming hydrophilic colloid, gel, thickening, emulsifying, embossing, stable dispersion, etc.

Characteristic:
1. Solubility: insoluble in cold water, but can swell into a gel block, insoluble in organic solvents, easily soluble in hot water to form a translucent colloidal solution.
2. Gelling property: thermoreversible gel can be formed in the presence of potassium ions;
3. Thickening: When the concentration is low, a low-viscosity sol is formed, and when the concentration is increased, a high-viscosity sol is formed.
4. Synergy: It has a synergistic effect with locust bean gum, konjac gum, xanthan gum and other colloids, which can improve the elasticity and water retention of the gel;
5. Health value: Carrageenan has the basic characteristics of soluble dietary fiber, and the degraded carrageenan in the body can form a soluble complex with fibrin.

Application:
1. In the food industry, it is usually used as a thickening agent, gelling agent, suspending agent, emulsifier and stabilizer, etc. Gummy, jelly, and ice cream are made of carrageenan.
2. In cosmetics, since carrageenan is easily absorbed by the skin, it can be mixed with glycerin to make an emollient. It can be used as an emulsifier in some lotions and shampoos, making the product smooth and soft, and the stability of the lotion is also improved.
